TMC Health Vice President Oncology Service Line
Reporting to the President and CEO of TMC Health, the Vice President, Oncology Service Line is a key partner and member of the executive management team and is broadly accountable for the success of all aspects of the TMC Health Oncology Program at all locations in Southern Arizona. This position facilitates and develops highly coordinated, system-level, planning and implementation to achieve and maintain a top decile patient experience, well-executed patient care delivery with superior clinical outcomes and excellent patient access and patient support. Fosters a multidisciplinary team approach to cancer disease management across medical, surgical and radiation oncology. This role is accountable for quality, program and service line growth and development, physician relationships and deployment, integration and consistency, clinical strategy to inform operational budgeting and capital allocation, as well as strategic business development for oncology services across the system. This role works with the service line Joint Operating Committee, TMC Health leaders, and medical staff to drive quality and service line development initiatives across the region. Experience with clinical research and integration of a robust clinical trials program (up to and including Phase 1 trials) within a clinical oncology workstream. This role will have indirect oversight over hospital-based service line leaders. Through this dotted line reporting relationship, the Vice President will ensure the implementation of the strategic direction for the service line and will drive the execution of their primary responsibilities. This role will be responsible for maintaining the appropriate alignment with key TMC Health system wide initiatives and service line colleagues in the regions/operations units, ensuring that activities within the system, operating unit and regional strategy are integrated within ambulatory and acute resources.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge to effectively plan and coordinate patient care consistent with applicable standards and regulations.
- Understanding of clinical operations and workflows, and how operational process/workflow impacts other department operations.
- Working knowledge and thorough understanding of health care laws, licensing and accreditation requirements, and clinical standards of practice with the ability to interpret and implement applicable requirements to ensure operational compliance.
- Knowledge of emerging trends and regulatory changes, and how it impacts operations.
- Business acumen, demonstrated ability to establish goals and standards to meet long and short-term objectives and make sound business decisions.
- Demonstrates credible leadership presence with the ability to respond to questions with logic, clarity, calmness, and authority; and the ability to engage others.
- Demonstrates familiarity with various methods of care delivery and quality improvement concepts.
- Demonstrates progressive management ability in providing administrative direction to innovative programs within the healthcare field. Written and verbal communications skills, as well as effective human resource skills are essential.
- Demonstrates financial acumen and ability to prepare and review budgets and financial statements.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in health administration, business, public health, or a related field.
- A strong track record as an experienced oncology leader.
- Prior, senior-level, cancer leadership experience, preferably within a complex, high-performing, health system.
- Significant experience and achievement in leading system integration and network development, with proven results in delivering exceptional patient care.
- Excellent interpersonal and change management skills, as demonstrated by the ability to motivate, and work effectively with physician and administrative partners and teams across disciplines.
- Demonstrated success in defining and realizing the highest standards of patient care, using measurement and data-driven improvement efforts, technology, and innovation to strategically move the system of care toward optimization of patient outcomes.
