Supports and supervises Facilities/Improvements and Construction team members in performing duties related to various construction projects, maintenance requests, program compliance, and special event needs/accommodations  on TMC campus and offsite location as required.  Ensures completion of customer and hospital needs/requests pertaining, but not limited to, repairs; special event requests; fire/smoke system inspection and repairs; furniture maintenance; painting, roofing, plumbing, carpentry and signage requests.


Performs supervisory functions; prepares work schedules, assigns staff, observes and reviews performance to provide input to formal evaluations, and makes recommendations for personnel actions; assists in staff selection and provides orientation, training and ongoing in-services for staff.  Schedules and supervises Improvements functions and activities so as not to interrupt or interfere with patient care activities.

Demonstrates and upholds established standards of behavior, safety, and confidentiality, as well as TMCH and department policies and standards. 

Adheres to and supports staff in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication. 

Exhibits excellence in customer service through appropriate attitude and interaction with all patients, visitors and staff.

Ensures compliance with applicable building code and regulatory requirements.

Monitors and controls expenses within approved budget allocations.

Oversees and works on projects involving the construction, alteration, or modification of buildings and facilities.

Works within CMS and interim life safety guidelines.

Develops estimates of time, labor, material, and cost requirements.

Reviews work in progress; checks and inspects as necessary for conformance to job specifications and building codes. Extracts data from sources such as blue prints, engineering orders, reports and specifications.

Organizes and maintains an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.

Ensures complete and proper logging of files and records and required cost computation of time spent, materials and supplies used for each completed requisition or work order.

Performs primary crafts and assists in all phases of construction or maintenance work as required to complete work activities.

Trains and assists team members.

Coordinates planning, scheduling, and implementation of activities to accomplish work in cooperation with other sections of department and/or other hospital departments and services.

Performs related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION:  High School Diploma or GED certificate, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

EXPERIENCEFour (4) years related construction maintenance experience, preferably including lead or supervisory experience.



  • Knowledge of business construction trades as it relates to commercial and industrial construction.

  • Skill in managing staff and projects to ensure the timely completion of projects in accordance with all building codes and regulations.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to apply basic algebraic concepts.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
