Under the general supervision of the VP of Human Resources, responsible for the employee health program./Under the general supervision of the Director of Quality, responsible for the coordination of the infection control programs.
Must be at least18 years of age.
Proof of highest level of education completed but not less than high school education or equivalent.
Graduate from an approved School of Professional Nursing.
Current Arizona Registered Nurse License.
Maintains current CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or other approved educational programs.
Maintains current ACLS and PALS certification from the American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or other approved educational programs.
Minimum of three (3) years professional nursing experience.
Credentials document education, training, or supervised experience related to infection surveillance, prevention, and control.
Computer literate in work processing and data base programs with ability to utilize computer for tracking/trending data and analysis.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of MGRMC personnel.
Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
An understanding of computer systems, process design and data management.
Must have a well-groomed, professional appearance.
Must have the mental and physical ability to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, the essential functions of the job.
Ability to lift, carry, pull, & push 50 pounds.
Language proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal fluency.
Bachelors of Science in Nursing
Certification by the Certification Board for Infection Control (CBIC).
Certification by the American Board for Occupational Health Nurse Certification (ABOHN)
Previous Meditech experience or other related electronic records systems.
Principle Clinical/Technical Duties
Category: Core Competencies
Renders professional quality care for employees of Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center Healthcare System according to the policies and procedures of the employee health service.
Creates, updates, and Maintains current policies and procedures according to the licensing and organizational requirements.
Orders needed supplies while remaining budget conscious.
Tracking, notifications and follow up of all required testing as required by licensure agencies.
Follow-ups on all ICA, on-the job injuries, needle stick injuries, and reports to Human Resources.
Responsible for seeking cost saving ideas within the workplace, but demonstrating safety at all times.
Reports monitoring activities as required by accrediting/licensing agencies to MGRMC.
Creates and implements changes in emergency preparedness policies and procedures.
Investigates, analysis, and records nosocomial infections according to CDC guidelines and prepares a monthly report. Reports quarterly and NYI and Quality Council.
Investigates all significant cluster of infection above the expected level.
Acts as a liaison with the local health department in reporting “reportable” infectious disease in the hospital.
Reviews environmental cleanliness and provides consultations regarding purchase of equipment and supplies.
Serves on the Infection Control Team, Safety Committee and others as assigned.
Updates Infection Control policies and procedures as needed.
Serves on the Environment of Care Committee, taking a proactive stance to improve employee safety and prevention.
Responsible for the MGRMCs exposure control plan. Reviews annually and submits changes to the EOC Committee for review and approval.
Serves as MGRMCs OSHA officer. Develops and implements employee training as directed by the EOC Committee
Category: Patient Care
Coordinates activities with the patient care areas to ensure infection prevention, control measures, and education to improve the quality of patient care.
All clinical staff who admit or care for patients must demonstrate critical thinking and judgment skills related to pain assessment. The assessment of pain shall include:
Performs new hire physical assessments, ordering of the appropriate labs, screening of current and needed medications in order to meet or exceed licensure and safety requirements.
Responsible for confidential employee health requirements, record review, and follow-ups.
Responsible for TB skin testing, mask fitting, prophylactic immunizations, and confidential employee follow up for Hepatitis and HIV exposure and others as needed.
Clinical staff who admit or care for patients must demonstrate critical thinking and judgment skills related to pain assessment. The assessment of pain shall include:
Screening for pain
Documentation of pain
Interventions for pain management
Development of a plan of care
