SUMMARY:
Assists customers with the purchase of retail products and provides product information and support to new parents and other retail customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Sells the organization’s products and services by interaction with established customers and developing new prospects; calls existing or potential customers, resolves and/or refers customer problems to appropriate department; resolves routine product or service problems to ensure customer satisfaction.
Routes inquires to other departments for their particular reply.
Keeps informed on new products and other general information of interest to customers.
Maintains accurate sales and inventory levels; reconciles book inventories with physical count; inventories user storage areas and replenish inventory as needed.
Works with retail manager concerning product changes and inventory problems; informs retail manager of all products no longer being requested by users.
Processes customer orders according to company guidelines and procedures.
Sets up or dismantle exhibits or displays.
Adheres to the retail stores standards or merchandising.
Marks inventory articles with identification codes as needed.
Checks materials against vendors’ invoices, bills of lading, customer orders and similar papers.
Unpacks and sorts incoming merchandise.
Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE: No prior experience or training.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: None required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of customer service best practices.
Skill in following directions both verbally and in writing.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to listen and accurately interpret others’ communication or instructions to take appropriate action.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
