Registered Nurse (RN) - Bed Control
Job Description
The Bed Control Nurse (BCN) rapidly, efficiently, and accurately triages patient levels of acuity. The BCN facilitates patient transfer requests from referring facilities to TMC, coordinates the admission of TMC Emergency Department (ED) patients, and assigns inter-unit patient transfers in a timely manner. The BCN practices with a sense of urgency in their Bed Control (BC) workflow to manage the patient “inter-unit” bed assignments, patient transfer requests from referring facilities, and coordinating the TMC Emergency Department (ED) patient admissions. The BCN accepts all appropriate unit bed assignments made based on admission criteria. As the BCN navigates the Bed Control workflow process the BCN must exhibit proficiency in the bed assignment system using Epic Software. The BCN ensures appropriate patient bed placement using critical thinking skills and applying resource utilization to facilitate patient admission to the appropriate level of care and nursing unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Graduation from a qualified, nationally-accredited nursing program; preferred BSN.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of acute care experience; preferably ICU or Emergency Department (ED) with Triage skills.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Current RN licensure permitting work in the state of Arizona.
