SUMMARY:

Provides technical expertise in data gathering, analysis, metric, database management, benchmarking and data display to enhance clinical and ancillary operations. Ability to turn data into information, information into insight, and insight into actionable decisions.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supports improvement projects and organizational strategic initiatives through data analysis and interpretation.

Evaluates issues and concerns providing critical thinking, and problem analysis, sees patterns, makes analogies and thinks systemically to provide solutions.

Designs data collection instruments, recommends method for collection and estimates sample sizes. 

Researches benchmarking sources.

Analyzes and compares hospital operational and clinical processes.

Utilizes clinical and operations data sources, and accesses and extracts data for analysis.

Designs, creates, and maintains databases. Works collaboratively with IT to ensure correct data files in appropriate formats are produced for the variety of clinical databases and registries used by TMC.

Develops, maintains, and enhances a variety of quality and safety metrics displays including reports, presentations, scorecards, etc.

Advises clinical leaders on data collection and measurement methods (chart review, observation, report generation, etc.).

Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication.

Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.

Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education. 

EXPERIENCE:  Three (3) years of data collection, analysis, and database management experience.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: None required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·         Skill in presenting complex data in a meaningful manner.

·         Ability to solve problems using strategic and creative thinking approaches.

·         Ability to deal effectively and rapidly with complex concepts.

·         Ability to see “big picture” and make decisions based on holistic view.

·         Knowledge of quantitative techniques such as analytic statistics (statistical process control) and enumerative statistics to data sets.

·         Skill in analytical software such as Microsoft EXCEL, ACCESS, MINITAB, etc.

·         Skill in critical thinking and problem analysis to determine patterns and analogies, and using systems thinking to provide solutions

·         Ability to read, analyze and interpret reference materials like clinical documents, technical journals, and financial reports.

·         Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations or write reports that conform to prescribed style and format.

·         Ability to apply analytical techniques to evaluate and assist in metric reporting, may involve advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents or logarithms, frequency distribution, sampling theory and factor analysis. 

·         Ability to apply principles of critical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

·         Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, equations, graphs, etc.).

·         Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
