Physical Therapist - Pediatric Therapies
Plans, organizes, and conducts physical therapy programs to restore function, prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part, and helps patients reach maximum functional performance levels. Utilizes physical exercise, massage, heat, water, various mechanical and electrical equipment, and prosthetic and orthotic devices. Evaluates, records and reports on patient progress.
Administers diagnostic testing procedures to determine the extent of patient’s impairment and prognosis for improvement.
Analyzes testing and other pertinent information to create an individual treatment plan.
Gathers pertinent data from a variety of sources and develops specific goals and plans re-evaluating and modifying plans periodically and as necessary.
Considers specific patient variables such as overall medical condition, stamina, motivation, etc. in planning treatment programs.
Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and department, such as evaluation results, individualize treatment plans, progress reports and other such reports.
Communicates with medical and allied health personnel regarding patient’s progress, needs and discharge planning.
Documents patient care efficiently, timely, and effectively through written communication.
Provides instruction in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient or family/caregiver.
Conducts or participates in training medical and other personnel in therapy techniques and objectives.
Supervises subordinate personnel according to department policy and professional standards; delegates treatment and treatment modalities to appropriate personnel.
Coordinates with other service areas to ensure proper patient care.
Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree; preferred Master’s Degree.
EXPERIENCE: None required.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Licensed Physical Therapist in state of Arizona and Heartsaver CPR (HSCPR or HSFACPR). Fingerprint Card required in some departments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of physical therapy programs and best practices used to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part.
Knowledge of best practices to ensure optimum patient care.
Skill in assessing needs and limitations to better assist patients.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to prepare detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, patients and/or their representatives, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to apply basic algebraic concepts.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
