$1,500 sign-on bonus for 2+ years of experience! 



Performs venipuncture on patients of all ages.  Processes, distributes and retrieves laboratory specimens for testing. Provides customer service to resolve issues for laboratory patients and clients. Provides daily work guidance and on the job training for other phlebotomists, processing specialists and client service personnel.



Trains new personnel on procedures in phlebotomy, processing, client services and in the outreach clinics, conducts training sessions and provides informal guidance.

Collects blood specimens and maintains the integrity of the specimen in relation to the test being performed.

Prepares work schedules, makes work assignments, and observes performance to provide input to formal evaluations or other personnel actions; works with other leads to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.

Coordinates services with nursing units and other departments within the lab to provide prompt and efficient service.

Prioritizes workflow to ensure turnaround times are met.

Identifies patient and labels specimens in accordance with lab polices and procedures.

Collects specimens as directed, using the appropriate collection devices and the correct tubes for the tests requested; sends specimens collected for testing to the laboratory in a timely manner to ensure turnaround times are met.

Logs specimens into the laboratory computer system.

Centrifuges blood and other body fluid specimens in test tubes, capillary tubes, etc. to separate cells and/or sediment from serum, plasma, fluid, etc. and labels the pour off tube appropriately.

Coordinates and routes specimens to proper area of laboratory.

Consults reference manuals to ensure specimens are properly packaged for send out; consults with Pathologists on send out testing for input regarding medical necessity.

Requisitions laboratory supplies and maintains supply inventories as directed.

Handles all incoming and outgoing telephone calls and exercises judgment as to the urgency or other nature of the calls and directs them to appropriate client or personnel

Sets up, calibrates, cleans and performs routine maintenance on specialized laboratory equipment.

Verifies that proper paperwork has been completed according to lab policies and procedures.

Documents performance variances.

Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.

Performs related duties as assigned.



EDUCATION:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:  Three (3) years of phlebotomy experience; preferably in an acute care setting.
