SUMMARY:

Assembles and maintains supplies, equipment and instruments for anesthesia setup and all surgical procedures. Transports patients and performs other related support activities in the operating room.  Receives direction from an OR Anesthesia Technician Lead.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintains an adequate supply of packs and supplies to meet area needs.

Submits orders to ensure that adequate supply levels are kept on hand; maintains inventory of surgical supplies.

Orders/stocks unit supplies on an ongoing basis.

Oversees sterilization, assembly and storage of medical supplies/equipment.

Performs biological and chemical monitoring in accordance with Q.A. standards.

Cleans, assembles, wraps, sterilizes and stores supplies and instrument trays.

Assists in necessary preparations prior to surgery.

Transports patients to and from operating room suite; positions patients according to type of surgery. Assisting OR Team.

Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values policies and standards.

Performs related duties assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:  None Required.

PREFERRED:  Six (6) months of related health care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of healthcare practices and procedures.

  • Skill in attention to detail and following schedules to ensure proper set up and equipment are ready for the next procedure.

  • Ability to read or listen and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
