Functions as a Nutrition Services Manager (CDM Required) in a team and mission-based setting to provide kitchen and nutrition services management for 24/7 healthcare facility. Nutrition Services Manager holds managerial responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operational, purchasing, menu planning, and budgeting aspects of critical access hospital food service. Hiring and training qualified food preparation and nutrition staff is one of the job's key duties. Initiates clinical nutrition assessments within CDM scope for Registered Dietitian to complete. Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and Local food safety standards. Maintains quality assurance for department to meet regulatory requirements and survey readiness. Effective leadership skills and previous management experience is preferred. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. This position may be asked to work at other NCCH-designated work location or sites as needed.

Supervision Received:  Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations or designated therapist

Special Conditions:    This position is a working manager who may be required to cover shifts, special events, weekends and/or holidays and during emergency conditions. This position is an essential worker which requires a commitment to teamwork, collaboration and department scheduling needs i.e. good attendance, attitude, customer services, communication skills, etc.,   Position is Safety Sensitive / Drug Free Workplace / COVID Vaccination Requirements.

Safe Food Handler Certification and Advanced Food Handler Certification required prior to date of hire and to be maintained.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.  Prefer 3-5 years management experience in food service in a hospital or other health care setting.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Current Certified Dietary Manager (CDM)  - Required or obtained within 12-24 months of hire date.

Current Certified Food Protection Professional (CFPP) - Required or obtained within 12-24 months of hire date.

Current Serv-Safe Certification – Required or obtained within 12-24 months of hire date.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Advanced knowledge of all facets of food operations.

Establish and maintain solid working relationships through communication, cooperation, and positive interactions with all patients/clients, employees, staff, providers, and vendors.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule.

Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently with limited supervision.

Strong customer service skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Positive communication skills; ability to successfully interact with all customers; continuous demonstration of courteous, cooperative and service orientated behavior.

Supports and maintains a culture of safety, quality and positive patient experience.

Basic computer skills, and ability to use office equipment to include but not limited to copy machine, faxes, EMR, etc.,
