Job Description
SUMMARY:
Assists with maintaining network systems and services. Performs basic installation, configuration and troubleshooting of network connected devices and network components. May assist more experienced Network Engineers in the maintenance and upgrades of network systems to maintain them at appropriate release levels, specializing in one or more areas. Provides timely resolution of basic problems affecting the operation of network systems and services. Learns networking fundamentals including IP addressing, routing, wired and wireless networking, LAN and VLAN configuration. Works with close supervision or under the direction of a Senior Network Engineer or Lead to resolve more intermediate problems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs basic tasks as assigned in the configuration, testing, installation, or support of network equipment such as switches, routers and firewalls.
Installs, configures and provides basic support of network management systems.
Installs, configures and provides network support for a variety of network connected devices including wireless devices, medical devices and mobile devices.
Performs basic troubleshooting and repair for wired and wireless connectivity issues in a variety of hospital settings.
Completes work according to departmental standards, as described in the Statement of Work (SOW), Service Level Agreement (SLA), or project plans.
Works with Senior and Lead Network Engineers on tasks and projects, completing network configuration and installation tasks under close supervision.
Creates and communicates status reports in accordance with department standards.
Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication. Assist team members as requested or needed.
Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Associate’s degree in a computer related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of general work experience within Information Technology is required; such as Service Desk, Desktop support or other IT related work.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Network +, Cisco CCENT or similar is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Basic knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, and applications.
· Skill in using computer applications including standard applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
· Able to communicate effectively in writing (email, reports, documentation, etc.)
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to understand and adhere to standards, procedures, and policies.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries and issues.
· Ability to work effectively with other teams and end users to solve problems.
· Strong, positive communication skills, both verbal and written.
