SUMMARY:

Oversees the daily operations of the Security Services Department; manages staff and ensures compliance with standards and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Effectively manages staff: interviews, hires and trains; provides continuous feedback and evaluates employee performance; appropriately handles performance issues; delegates work assignments for the greatest amount of efficiency and productivity.

Demonstrates and upholds established standards of behavior, safety, and confidentiality, as well as TMCH and department policies and standards. 

Monitors and controls expenses within approved budget allocations.

Manages the investigation of existing and proposed administrative systems and procedures; makes recommendations directed toward simplification improvement, and plans and coordinates their implementation.

Monitors security activities to ensure secure and safe conditions for employees, patients, and visitors, and to protect hospital buildings, assets, and premises; inspects work performance/assignments; and implements improvements in work methods.

Manage/monitor the daily security services across all TMC sites.

Investigates security breaches or occurrences, produces timely and concise reports, and advises on and implements deterrents of security breaches and incidents.

Maximizes opportunities for TMC Healthcare to prevent or minimize security breaches and incidents by learning from operational experience about previous incidents, using technology wisely and sharing best practice.

Liaise with internal & external stakeholders and partners, providing advice and guidance in areas of expertise.

 Conducts Risk Assessments in all areas of TMC Healthcare to identify security weakness and formulate action plans to improve security.

Analyzes trends and risks to inform the development of preventative measures or the revision of policies and procedures

Creates a pro-security culture amongst staff, professionals and the public where the responsibility for security is accepted by all.

Develops and delivers the professional training of all security staff and provides training by external qualified professionals where appropriate.

Manages equipment related to the security services, including: CCTV, security alarm systems, and access control.

Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Degree highly recommended

EXPERIENCE:  Four (4) years of security experience; preferably in an acute care setting and in a manager, lead, or supervisory role.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:  Must be 21 years of age or older in order to operate a company car, due to insurance company requirements.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Security License through Arizona Department of Public Safety, and Valid AZ driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of security best practices.

  • Skill in evaluating and leading staff.

  • Skill in conducting investigations into security issues and preparing reports of findings..

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, patients and/or their representatives, and the general public.

  • Ability to use managerial and statistical tools to generate, organize and analyze data to effectively make appropriate changes to systems.
