SUMMARY:

Develop and implement programs, projects and activities designed to seek, receive and administer charitable contributions to the Foundation for the benefit of TMC. Put into action an effective stewardship and cultivation strategy for individual, corporate and foundation donors as well as new prospects with the goal of expanding the number of gifts.  Actively solicits new funding opportunities and develops strategies for a broader base of donors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Designs and implements comprehensive fundraising campaigns utilizing personal solicitations, corporate sponsorships, direct mail, and foundation grants.

Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards current and prospective donors.

Works closely with Foundation staff to cultivate annual, major, and planned giving prospects.

Identifies and cultivates volunteer relationships by educating and involving volunteers in Foundation activities.

Develops budgets and other necessary short and long-term planning processes to ensure continuity and growth of the Foundation’s development program.

Coordinate the design, writing and mailing of all marketing and solicitation materials.

When appropriate, collaborate with the Communications Department on internal and external communications maintaining the same vision across all forms of media. 

Direct and coordinate fundraising efforts for specific departments within the hospital.

Maintains professional expertise by attending workshops, lectures, conferences and other means of professional development.

Represents TMC by attending events and serving on professional/civic service organizations.

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, improving organization performance program, and safety standards.

Will be responsible for two (2) of the following areas:

Major Gifts – Hospice:

Identifies, develops, broadens, and maximizes philanthropic support from individual and business prospects to increase awareness and support of hospital programs, initiatives and goals through philanthropic giving. Responsible for tracking and managing information and strategies pertaining to 50-150 major gift prospects, including timely and accurate documentation of conversations and contacts with prospects, volunteers, board members, physicians and other healthcare providers, and medical center leadership. Actively serve as the content expert and liaison for assigned service lines including but not limited to Hospice, and works collaboratively with unit directors and managers to develop effective donor relations.

Children’s Miracle Network:

Responsible for the development, planning, design, and implementation of the Children’s Miracle Network fundraising program including individual, corporate, and foundation donor solicitations leading to major gifts for children’s services at TMC.  Actively cultivates and solicits new funding opportunities and develops strategies for a broader base of donors. Manages all aspects of Children’s Miracle Network franchised fundraising program including establishing relationships and management and stewardship donors. Works collaboratively with unit directors and managers to develop effective donor relations.

Major Gifts – Pediatrics & Cardiology:

Identifies, develops, broadens, and maximizes philanthropic support from individual and business prospects to increase awareness and support of hospital programs, initiatives and goals through philanthropic giving. Actively serve as the content expert and liaison for assigned service lines including but not limited to Pediatric and Cardiology, and works collaboratively with unit directors and managers to develop effective donor relations.

Corporate and Foundation Relations:

Manages and oversees Corporate and Foundation Relations, supporting a Corporate and Foundation Relations team member. Provides strong working knowledge and mentorship of giving and charitable vehicles including relationship management, grant identification, proposal and grant writing and management, and prospect research to identify and cultivate new sources of funding. Manage and oversee the preparation and submission of proposals and reports in a timely fashion, ensuring enough lead time is given to other staff contributing to the proposal including work with the program teams, Finance and senior staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

EXPERIENCE: Six (6) years fundraising and program management experience at a non-profit institution.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: None required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Thorough knowledge of fundraising programs, strategic planning, proposal development; and donor portfolio management. 
  • Ability to solicit donations from individuals through direct mail, personal solicitation and event sponsorship.
  • Knowledge of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Practice.
  • Knowledge of HIPPA regulations and how the restrictions apply to fundraising.
  • Skills with verbal, written, and interpersonal communications.
  • Skill in organizing a variety of tasks and staff to meet deadlines.
  • Sill in the use of computer applications, which includes the use of software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or various donor database software programs.
  • Ability to establish and manage donor relationships successfully.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, patients and/or their representatives and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited or no standardization exists.
  • Knowledge of prospect research and identification including analytical analysis of existing database.
  • Ability to motivate and manage volunteers and staff to help advance the mission of Tucson Medical Center.
