SUMMARY:

Manages clinical engineering operations, including biomedical, diagnostic imaging, OR, Lab and other related medical  equipment, at Tucson Medical Center and affiliated entities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with the mission, values and objectives of the department and organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Collaborates with clinical leadership to develop strategic and operational equipment roadmaps and plans.

Maintains knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements relative to hospital and departmental operations and ensures compliance.

Develops policies, procedures and practices in support of attaining and/or maintaining Joint Commission (or other) accreditation, as required.

Accountable for the development and implementation of practices, policies and procedures in functional areas of the department.

Collaborates with clinical leadership to review equipment acquisition and service contracts to ensure contracts meet TMC needs and are financially and operationally sound.

Recommends improvements in medical technology management, as appropriate.

Accountable for staffing and capacity planning for the department.

Responsible for the development and monitoring of, and compliance with, the departmental budgets, including capital and operating budgets.

Accountable for maintaining a safe environment including awareness and appropriate response to product safety issues, recalls, etc.

Manages a program that ensures 100% compliance on planned maintenance for all identified equipment.

Responsible for projects, initiatives, and execution of the departmental strategic plan.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  Master’s Degree in a related field including business, healthcare or related field preferred. Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of Biomed, Clinical Engineering or Medical Equipment Management leadership experience may substitute for the Master's Degree.

EXPERIENCE:  7-10 years Biomedical/Clinical Technology or Clinical Engineering management experience with increasing levels of responsibility and authority.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION:  Related professional affiliations desired.
