SUMMARY:
Trains and guides staff in providing accurate assembling of images and reports and identifying correct patient file.   Duties include using electronic health records and various electronic imaging systems to evaluate studies and determine completeness, verifying demographic information of patient such as ID and name and linking studies to orders then aligning studies according to protocol.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication. 

Provides guidance and training to staff on how to use imaging systems to match orders with images ensuring quality control.

Verifies that studies are complete with the number of images required and that any relevant paperwork is also scanned into the system to be merged with the patient files. Notifies technicians or manager of any issues.

Ensures that orders are matched up with images in the system and then aligned per protocol and identified by demographics of patient for final placement. Reviews orders and lines up previous images that are related for comparison purposes.

Retrieves and files images in designated area; submits required radiology files to physicians and follows up to ensure information is returned in a timely manner. Scans charts in file into the system, sorts through images in file to purge old exams, may also burn CDs. Digitizes relevant and foreign images as directed and prepares them for Radiologist to read and mails them to outside individuals and agencies.

Processes subpoenas, court orders, and routine requests for records; processes other paperwork as appropriate.

Edit study in vision and fax order to help desk so study can be edited in main Amicas and Backup; if study cannot be edited then contact technician to request study be resent after deleting old one out of the systems.

Ensure priorities are handled in a timely manner and are not left to sit too long.

Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.

Exhibits excellence in customer service through appropriate attitude and interaction with all patients, visitors and staff.

Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:   Four (4) years of related experience, preferably in a lead role.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION:  None required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and terminal digit filing.

  • Knowledge of anatomy and how to review images and set them up according to protocols.

  • Skill in greeting customers and asking the right questions to ensure the right information is collected and retrieved.

  • Skill in training and guiding staff.

  • Skills in the use of computer applications in order to search, verify, and obtain information.

  • Ability to read or listen and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.

  • Ability to read a clock and accurately document time.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
