Job Description
SUMMARY:
Performs receptionist duties for patient care or technical area, schedules appointments and follows up with Physicians to ensure scripts and other information is finalized. Prepares patients, monitors and assists with a variety of scans, responds to requests for information, maintains files, distributes reports and documents and ensures quality control. Assembles and maintains supplies, equipment and instruments, and may transport patients as needed. Digitizes various radiologic scans and ensures quality control.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs receptionist duties for technical area; receives, initiates, and directs telephone calls and messages. Assists visitors, staff, and patients by providing directions to hospital locations or calling for an escort when necessary.
Uses scheduling system to schedule a wide variety of procedures and follows up to ensure all scripts and previous scans are digitized and ready for viewing by the Physician and/or technical staff .
May prepare patients for scans and assist Technologists with a variety of procedures.
May digitize a wide variety of films and ensure quality control before finalizing.
Retrieves and files images in designated area; submits required radiology files to physicians and follows up to ensure information is returned in a timely manner.
Assembles and prepares equipment for scans. Problem solves and trouble shoots equipment malfunctions.
May transport patients as needed.
Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values policies and standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months experience in a health related field preferred.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heartsaver CPR (HSCPR or HSFACPR) required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of healthcare records and best practices for maintaining records.
Skill in assisting professional staff by preparing patients.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to listen and accurately interpret others’ communication or instructions to take appropriate action; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers; ability to read a clock and accurately document time.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
