Provides reliable and safe operation of environmental control systems. Maintains medical gas and vacuum system equipment and distribution piping. Maintains sterilization, refrigeration and kitchen equipment.

Builds, repairs, and installs, as directed within the capabilities of the trade; submits estimates of materials and labor needed for specific projects and the upgrading of stock.
Coordinates planning, scheduling, and implementation of activities to accomplish work in cooperation with other sections of department and/or other hospital departments and services.
Inspects, maintains, repairs and operates refrigeration, cooling, and air conditioning systems and equipment to ensure all are functioning properly.
Dismantles moves, installs or repairs machinery and mechanical equipment, usually requires use of lifting and moving devices.
Inspects mechanical rooms of the hospital to ensure proper operation of heat, air conditioning, ventilation fans and medical support equipment; installs, repairs and calibrates electrical and electronic recording devices, and regulates control instruments.
Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, and voltmeter, testing lamp or growler.
Installs, repairs, tests, and replaces piping and fittings for oil, gas, water, steam, air, heating and plumbing lines as well as systems for equipment such as compressors, pumps, and boilers.
Maintains all required records and information pertinent to costing out work assignments.
Properly handles refrigerants as regulated by the EPA.
Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments or replacement.
Installs refrigeration machinery, air conditioning equipment, water coolers, and small refrigerators.
Performs related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Associate's degree, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of related experience.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Possess Refrigeration Transition and Recovery Certificate and TMC Tug License.
