Leads the development of EPIC system scope and objectives based on user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements; devises or modifies EMR procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operation time and form of desired results, assigning work and directing staff as needed.  Responsibilities include devising or modifying system assessments; process analysis, identifying and implementing information system solutions that support more efficient and effective work performance based on inherit knowledge of clinical function and processes.  Considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment. 


Leads systems staff in solving problems, including development and documentation of most efficient method of accomplishing defined requirements.

Leads the continuing review of present EPIC systems and methods and the formulation of new and revised systems, examining techniques in use and determining appropriate changes to effect improvements, reduce costs and enhance efficiency.

Analyzes requests and prepares feasibility studies linked to organizational strategy and operational objectives.

Observes performance and may provide input to evaluations, and makes recommendations for personnel actions; assists in staff selection and provides training and orientation of employees.

Leads systems staff in solving complex EPIC related problems, including development and documentation of most efficient method of accomplishing defined requirements.

Participates in the identification of hospital information needs.

Analyzes tasks and problems and determines the most efficient and cost effective method of accomplishing defined requirements within a scheduled deadline.

Prepares and monitors progress against SOW, SLAs and project plans.

Analyzes and designs systems that meet user requirements.

Establishes priorities, schedules activities and allocates resources to achieve results within set timeframes and according to plan. 

Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.

Performs related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION:  Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:  Five (5) to eight (8) years of system analysis experience with EPIC preferably in an acute care setting, and two (2) years of experience in a lead capacity.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION:  Must have EPIC certification in one or more major products/solutions.


  • Knowledge of systems and developing codes to modify or enhance business operations.

  • Skill in evaluating, leading and guiding professional staff.

  • Skill in analyzing an issue or problem and developing solutions to correct or manage the system or software operation.

  • Skill in preparing detailed documentation of any system fix.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, patients and/or their representatives, and the general public.

  • Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to apply basic algebraic concepts.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
