Coordinator Emergency Management Program
Job Description
SUMMARY:
Manages and oversees the development, integration, maintenance, and testing of a comprehensive, all-hazard emergency management program for the facility. Works with all levels of hospital staff as well as physicians and visitors. External contacts include federal, state and local emergency response agencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication.
Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety and confidentiality policies and standards.
Develops and maintains the facility’s comprehensive all-hazard Emergency Response plan.
Coordinates and helps manage emergency operations through the Emergency Operations Committee (EOC); ensures that the EOC is organized for maximum effectiveness of staff participating in disaster exercises and actual disaster events.
Develops and performs in-house training for TMC staff for Emergency Management procedures.
Serves as an active participant is various state and local Emergency Management and community preparedness committees.
Plans and maintains the Emergency Management budget and secures various grant dollars for support of Emergency Management programs at TMC.
Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of emergency management experience.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Must possess a valid driver’s license, OSHA First Responder Certification, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Thorough knowledge of all pertinent Federal, State and local Laws, regulations, JCAHO, etc. as they pertain to emergency management.
· Skill in developing, implementing and maintaining emergency management programs.
· Skill in organizing and setting goals to ensure programs needs are met.
· Skill in communicating in writing and verbally.
· Ability to work independently and to take initiative.
· Ability to access and respond appropriately to difficult situations.
· Ability to analyze problems and use good problem solving and decision-making skills in arriving at solutions.
· Ability to focus and follow up on task with attention to detail for administrative tasks.
· Ability to utilize computer hardware and software to facilitate service and delivery and program operations.
· Ability to assimilate, understand and act on complex information and concepts.
· Ability to interpret complex information and concepts to others in an understandable manner.
· Ability to maintain an enthusiastic, positive, team player attitude with the ability to work effectively with people.
· Ability to work with people from diverse cultural, educational, and vocational backgrounds.
