SUMMARY:

The Compliance and Policy Specialist: (1) manages the TMC HealthCare Policy Management System; (2) participates in maintaining compliance databases and running and analyzing compliance reports, and (3) participates in ongoing compliance activities.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Compliance and Policy Specialists primary function will be to manage the TMC HealthCare Policy Management System.

  • Coordinate policy review and approval by document owners and executive sponsors for all clinical and administrative policies by providing notification of review and approval deadlines.
  • Liaise with document owners and executive sponsors at all levels within the organization.
  • Support document owners and executive sponsors in proper template utilization and document cataloging.
  • Work with development team to maintain and improve the organization, structure, and end-user functionality of the system.
  • Participate in workgroups, committees, or subcommittees with oversight of the TMC HealthCare Policy Management System.

The Compliance and Policy Specialist will assist with maintaining compliance databases, running and analyzing compliance reports.

  • Review, summarize, and report results of monthly sanction checks to the Director of Compliance.
  • Review, analyze, and report preliminary policy monitoring results to the Director of Compliance.
  • Maintain the database of approved research studies and clinical trials.
  • Track consent submissions for approved research studies and clinical trials.
  • Review, analyze, and respond to reports received in the non-monetary compensation tracking database.
  • Obtain destruction reports from document storage vendor and distribute destruction reports to relevant operational owners.

The Compliance and Policy Specialist will participate in ongoing compliance activities.

  • Conduct HIPAA Walk-Through Exercise assessments.
  • Monitor regulatory and settlement current events and news e.g. OIG Fraud Alerts.
  • Complete assignments derived the Corporate Compliance Annual Work Plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:  Three (3) years of relevant experience.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION:  None required. Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) preferred.

  • Skilled at working effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to listen and accurately interpret others' communication or instructions to take appropriate action.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships and communications with providers, clinical staff, office staff, and administrators.
  • Ability to write correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, prepare, and present reports to management.
  • Ability to accurately preform multiple tasks and observe strict deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
