Clinical Informatics Curriculum Developer
In coordination with the IS Education Team Lead, the Clinical Informatics Curriculum Developer will design, build, maintain and refresh learning content including e-learning content which supports clinical, departmental, and organizational goals. The developer is responsible for creating content that is aligned with operational needs as well as state and federal guidelines. The developer assesses and analyzes training and skill development need, creates and maintains current application course curricula; builds, tests, and maintains the application training environment. Provides assistance to clinical departments in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining effective training experiences, and assists and supports system implementations by educating other educators, clinical educators, and analysts.
Design and develop new and existing training materials and curricula which support instructional and organizational goals
Build engaging content and curricula into learning outlets (eLearning, classroom, rounding); collaborate with subject matter experts, and identify training and learning tool needs
Design educational activities in collaboration with subject matter experts, ensuring linkages between educational design elements (learning needs, outcomes, objectives, assessments) and the creation and delivery of learning content for live in-person, web-based or blended learning activities
Assist in conducting classroom and digital raining materials that strengthen clinical staff understanding of the EMR
Prepare evaluation instruments and conducts diagnostic, formative and summative evaluations
Facilitate and coordinate feedback, conduct research and analysis, assess learning gaps/opportunities, and make recommendations
Assist with the management, monitoring and maintenance of all learning objects and curricula within the LMS
Provide other training as needed
Collaborate with cross functional teams to determine business and department training needs
Maintain records of training activities and employee progress utilizing a learning management system; monitors effectiveness of programs and compiles required reports and records
Develop and maintain current application course curricula and supporting training materials
Conduct the build, testing and maintenance of the system training environment on a routine schedule
Deliver application curricula to end users using training strategies that meet a variety of learning styles, including evaluating for understanding
Collaborate with other clinical educators, analysts, super users, and regional partners to improve application functionality and training
Answer application functionality questions from managers and clinical staff, researching answers and possibilities with appropriate teams within Information Services (IS) and with vendor advisors as necessary
Maintain relationships with end users through rounding, department meetings, and special training sessions to assess proficiency and identify ongoing training needs
Understand clinical workflows and how they fit into the end users’ daily tasks, including the ability to troubleshoot workflow issues and suggest temporary workflow changes, as needed, in accordance with departmental and/or organizational policy
Provide input to the Manager and acts as a liaison with clinical departments to identify, develop, implement, and maintain effective training experiences
Assist and support system implementations by educating other clinical educators and super users, facilitating problem solving as necessary
Evaluate effectiveness of learning strategies and outcomes of educational activities
Participate in organizational councils and initiatives as membership requires or as requested by the Manager
Maintain clinical knowledge through a variety of methods, including observation of clinical workflows and clinical documentation on hospital units, HODs and other clinics as determined by management
Participate as needed in professional organizations and actively networks to share information and ideas
Create objectives, lesson plans, and evaluation strategies; presents and coordinate in-service and continuing education programs
Formulate and develop plans, procedures and programs to meet specific training needs and problems
Adhere to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards
Participate in on-call rotation and rounding activities with Clinical Informatics
Perform other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree is required in informatics, healthcare, curriculum design, education or a related field. Master’s degree or equivalent experience in healthcare or adult education highly preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of clinical experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting and two (2) years of training clinical staff in a health care environment or equivalent experience in adult education preferred. Two (2) years instructional design experience in technology education.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Recommend clinicians, including RN’s, maintain current state licensure. May be required to certify on one or more EPIC applications and maintain certification.
