SUMMARY:
Coordinates and provides services for the religious needs of patients and their families and TMC staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides pastoral visitation, worship and sacramental ministry to patients and their families and TMC staff.

Charts pastoral care visits.

Responds to personal, collegial and organizational spiritual needs and to provide guidance for individuals seeking ministry counseling.

Promotes individual spiritual growth and provides a nurturing community for colleagues and volunteers.

Functions as a teacher and consultant in matters related to religious life.

Serves on TMC committees per interest, needs of the department, and appointment by the Manager of Pastoral Services

Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication. 

Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety and confidentiality policies and standards.

Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Theology, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. At least one unit of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of chaplain or pastoral experience.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION:  Ordination or commissioning for ministry by a recognized religious group. A current endorsement (or ability to obtain endorsement within 6 months) for chaplaincy by a recognized religious group. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of ministry counseling concepts and practices.

  • Skill in providing spiritual needs and guidance.

  • Values diversity and input from others.

  • Listens well; responds with empathy.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to listen and accurately interpret others’ communication or instructions to take appropriate action.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; and apply basic algebraic concepts.

  •  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
