Performs non-invasive cardiac diagnostic tests such as EKGs, stress tests, tilt tables and holter monitors.
Performs electrocardiograms (EKGs or ECGs) on adults as well as children
Prepares patients for stress testing and tilt table tests and performs these procedures under the supervision of a credentialed practioner.
Applies and scans holters. Prepares a preliminary report for the cardiologist.
Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis; assists in their care and maintenance.
Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, patient identification, etc.
Develops relationships with professional affiliations and others as appropriate.
Obtains patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedures; observes patient for any unusual reactions or events.
Operates specialized equipment and calibrates and records test results.
Prepares patient, explains the procedure, and ensures patient's cooperation during the examination.
Ensures the patient is properly prepared for diagnostic procedure by verifying an informed patient consent has been properly executed and if necessary, arrange for one to be provided.
Sets up and checks equipment for each of the individual procedures performed.
Provides assistance, guidance and direction to visitors and patients; calls for an escort when necessary;
Performs clerical duties such as providing coverage for the front desk associate, handling incoming phone calls, scheduling and charging procedures.
Operates a personal computer, Calculator and FAX machine.
Ensures infection control procedures are followed.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE: None required; preferred six (6) months of acute care experience and basic EKG rhythm knowledge.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Additional certification may be required per department.
