SUMMARY:
Performs non-invasive cardiac diagnostic tests involving operating specialized equipment and calibrating and recording test results.  Participates in coordination of ambulatory ECG monitor program; prepares rhythm transmission reports for physician evaluation and performs electrocardiograph examinations and others as ordered.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis; assists in their care and maintenance.

Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, patient identification, etc.

Develops relationships with professional affiliations and others as appropriate.

Obtains patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedures; observes patient for any unusual reactions or events.

Operates specialized equipment and calibrates and records test results.

Participates in coordination of ambulatory ECG monitor program; prepares rhythm transmission reports for physician evaluation.

Performs electrocardiograph examinations and others as ordered.

Prepares patient, explains the procedure, and ensures patient's cooperation during the examination.

Records and calculates all necessary parameters and interprets ECG tracings for diagnostic purposes.

Sets up and checks equipment for stress testing and administers exercise test to patients.

Ensures the patient is properly prepared for diagnostic procedure by verifying an informed patient consent has been properly executed and if necessary, arrange for one to be provided.

Sets up and checks equipment for each of the individual procedures performed.

Provides assistance, guidance and direction to visitors and patients; calls for an escort when necessary; handles incoming telephone calls.

Performs clerical duties such as, setting up/maintaining files and distributing incoming mail.

Operates a personal computer, Calculator and FAX machine.

Ensures infection control procedures are followed.

Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication. 

Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety and confidentiality policies and standards.

Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

EXPERIENCE: None required; preferred six (6) months of acute care experience.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Department specific: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of basic office and computer functions and best practices.

  • Knowledge of acute care technical and administrative functions.

  • Skill in following detailed instructions and gathering details to ensure tests are accurate.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to listen and accurately interpret others’ communication or instructions to take appropriate action.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.

  • Ability to read a clock and accurately document time.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
