2023 Business Intelligence (BI) Spring (January – May) Internship
The BI Spring Internship Program combines meaningful work experiences with exposure to different areas of Tucson Medical Center (TMC) to give interns a unique opportunity to expand their technical skills as well as exposure to the various complexities of data analysis within healthcare. Interns will work on impactful, innovative projects, supporting multiple service lines and business departments. In addition to daily work and projects interns will be exposed to various levels of TMC leadership to expand their business acumen and insights into how hospitals are managed. Interns will be working with various BI practitioners in architecture and engineering, data analysis, and solution development.
Operates within a defined area of expertise to gather requirements and contributes to the design and implementation of new BI solutions.
Work alongside the BI team on production level projects.
Use various analytics and development tools in the BI space.
Develop intelligence solutions for complex issues.
Apply advanced analytical methods to healthcare data to solve ongoing business asks.
Participate in Gemba walks with key customers to learn how they use information and makes recommendations for reporting process improvements.
Exhibit excellence in customer service through appropriate attitude and interaction with all patients, visitors, and staff.
Adhere to and supports team members in exhibiting TMC values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication.
Adhere to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies, and standards.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Must be currently enrolled in a computer science, data science, or analytics related degree as an undergraduate, graduate, or similar program at an accredited college.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Preferred at least Six (6) months of related experience, training in area of internship, or through current education program.
Experience in statistical and data analysis.
Knowledge in one or more of the following: SQL, Python, or R.
Experience in developing and using data visualization tools such as Qlik and PowerBI.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools (ie. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote)
Ability to think abstractly and work cross functionally with team members and various business leaders.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
