Job Description
SUMMARY:
Provides data analysis and decision support by working with customers to mine relevant data sources and analyze results and areas of opportunity. Gathers customer requirements and develops specifications. Develops reports and visualizations using appropriate Business Intelligence (BI) tools and techniques. Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in complex data sets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Drive the design and implementation of new BI solutions.
Lead small to medium sized projects or initiatives.
Lead and facilitates meetings and design sessions to gather requirements with customers and team members and develops work plans to achieve objectives.
Understand the business/clinical strategy of a particular function/area and proactively works with internal/external team(s) to define necessary information needed to drive improvement.
Perform Gemba walks with key customers to learn how they use information and makes recommendations for reporting process improvements.
Influence business leadership and management decisions and drives ownership and acceptance of change to the business.
Work with the other BIExecution Functions to create information solutions based on business, clinical or project requirements including dashboards, graphs, charts, trends and other advanced visualizations.
Understand the common sources of data within the healthcare system, the data structures of each data source, and relationships between sources.
Effectively use appropriate BI Analyst tools such as Qlik, PowerBI, or and BOBJ.
Use visualization techniques to express information in a way that is understandable to the customer.
Facilitate data governance activities working with stakeholders to define sources, standard metrics and definitions.
Review multiple data sets looking at correlating factors and relationships between data.
Use standard data analysis techniques such as descriptive statistics, trend analysis and correlation to effectively interpret.
Work with operational leadership to finds data discrepancies and identify issues. Works with team to optimizes data quality and transparency.
Develop appropriate methodologies for collecting, analyzing and presenting data and information.
Research new data sources and analytical tools.
Train and mentors other analysts.
Develop and follows department and team standard work(s).

Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, business intelligence, STEM, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of intelligence analysis experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Certification in one or more EPIC applications or has the ability to become certified within 6 months. Certification in CBIP, MS Data Analyst Associate, or other related BI development tool is highly recommended.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of information systems, business/clinical operations, requirements analysis, and assigned core application(s).
- Skill in assessing needs and determining through documentation what the best approach might be.
- Skill at problem definition and data collection by establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to prepare detailed written reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, managers, directors, senior leaders and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to apply basic algebraic concepts.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
