SUMMARY:
Performs skilled level work in the installation, calibration, inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of standard biomedical and related technical equipment. The BMET II takes responsibility for initiating appropriate actions in response to clinical requests or program driven request for the areas assigned to this position. May occasionally lead team during projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Analyzes electronic equipment for causes of failure; isolates, tests, and replaces defective parts.
Uses available test equipment to identify problems and repair medical devices.
Works with equipment manufacturers on repair work and orders parts needed for equipment repair and maintenance.
Performs preventive maintenance inspection and electrical safety testing and corrects problems.
Makes necessary operational adjustments to electronic equipment and take sensitivity, selectivity, and accuracy measurements.
Provides engineering and technical counsel on codes and standard, maintenance and repair of medical equipment and related facilities in clinical areas and establish appropriate safety standards.
Provides correct, precise, and timely documentation of maintenance actions performed including documentation required by regulatory agencies.
Participates in in-service training of new technicians and nursing staff concerning use and operation of medical/biomedical equipment; may supervise.
Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication.
Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety and confidentiality policies and standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Associate of the Applied Sciences Degree in Electronics Technology or related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. DOD Program Training.
EXPERIENCE: Over three (3) years of experience as a Biomedical Technician.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Preferred Training certification from manufacturers or an acceptable third-party equipment maintenance organization.
