SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of mechanical maintenance and repairs to hospital vehicles, scooters, trailers, and maintenance equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Exhibits excellence in customer service through appropriate attitude and interaction with all patients, visitors and staff.

Performs preventative maintenance, repairs and replacement of broken parts.

Uses hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments to repair and maintain machinery and equipment.

Dismantles maintenance equipment and/or electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts; adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.

Isolates defective wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, and voltmeter, testing lamp or growler.

Performs welding operations associated with installation and repair.

Organizes and maintains an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; orders replacement parts.

Keeps work area orderly, clean and safe; ensures proper care in use of equipment and supplies.

Extracts data from sources such as repair/maintenance orders, reports and vehicle, equipment, and/or parts specifications.

Assures complete and proper logging of files and work orders; records required cost computations of time spent and materials used for each completed requisition or work order.

Monitors fuel supplies and schedules deliveries as needed.

Adheres to and supports team members in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication. 

Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.

Performs related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:  Four (4) years of related auto maintenance and equipment repair experience or training.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Capable of obtaining respirator certification. Must maintain a current TMC tug license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge of mechanical and automotive repair.
  • Skill in applying mechanical knowledge and safety rules in the performance of any repair process.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to complete routine reports, work orders, and correspondence.
  • Ability to listen and accurately interpret others’ communication or instructions to take appropriate action.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
