SUMMARY:

Serves as a liaison between assigned departments and Information Services.  Monitors departmental charge cycles, ensuring charges are appropriately posted and processed through the entire billing cycle.  Assists in the development and documentation of system requirements, training needs and assists with the implementation of new or changes to existing information technology systems.  Provides first level support for business and personal productivity application in assigned area ensuring that problems are correctly identified and coordinates resolution with the appropriate members of the Information Services department or vendor.  Performs system administration and operational support activities by maintaining user accounts in application, maintaining business system tables, producing reports and running programs within provided guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Participates in appropriate customer departmental meetings and appropriate Information Services meetings.

Creates and communicates status reports in accordance with department standards; updates documentation consistently.

Understands and documents department’s core business processes.

Coordinates activities between user department and the Information Services Department.

Provides on-call support and may lead and direct the work of others.

Performs investigation to determine proper course for problem resolution; logs problem or open tasks with Information Services Help Desk or Vendor according to established guidelines.

Prepares clear, concise and comprehensive training materials and provides customer training.

Maintains tables and parameters in applications; produces reports and/or queries from applications; executes program or batch jobs of supported applications.

Assists in all stages of information technology system implementation such as planning, requirements definition, testing and documentation.

Systems Integrity:

Maintains and audits computer information such as contract pricing, proposal analysis, purchase orders, Pyxis System and special projects.  Works with Clinical Resource Mgmt, Purchasing, and MMIS teams to ensure the integrity of the system catalog is maintained and by researching all item requests for duplications and recommending existing alternatives.  Maintains a system-wide UNSPSC uniform coding system for the items in the item master. Assists Clinical Resource with UNSPSC classification and assigning attributes as requested.  Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field and five (5) years of contracts or materials management experience.

Pharmacy:

Sets up new pyxis system dispensers ensures isolated units are tied into the network, makes recommendation for medication stocking based on type of unit and number of beds.  Prepares work schedules for department.  Interprets and clarifies orders for all types of medications, reviews usage and needs and develops a work around when a shortage might exist.  Develops queries for special reports and analyzes discrepancies, making recommendations to management.  Maintains data base of all pharmaceutical codes and costs and trouble shoots discrepancies.  Requires four (4) years of pharmacy technician experience.  Preferred to be licensed and registered by the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.

Patient Financial Services:

Assists with development of system requirements, training needs and changes to existing or implementation of new information technology systems for Patient Financial Services systems.  Provides support for business and personal productivity applications in assigned area ensuring problems are correctly identified and coordinates resolution with appropriate members of the Information Services department.  Performs system administration and operational support activities by maintaining user accounts in applications, maintaining business system tables, producing reports and running programs within provided guidelines.   Requires Associates Degree and five (5) years experience in hospital patient financial services, preferably with 2 years of relative financial system support experience.

Radiology:

Provides technical and maintenance support for Radiant, Cadence, Clindoc, HIM build, Amicas, assists all radiologic and diagnostic nursing users, develops and tests workflows and updates to EPIC and runs TAT, Volume and investigative reports to track down user error and  incorrect/incomplete charges.  Notifies the Charge Master and coders of any modifications and credits to be added to a patient’s account. Trains users in new workflows and current competencies.  Provides administrative support for the HIM transcription department in filing diagnostic radiology reports.  Requires four (4) years of experience working in a radiology setting, preferably with EPIC certification in Radiant.

HIM - Medical Transcription:

Knowledgeable in dictation, medical transcription, and healthcare documentation integrity workflows.  Assists with workflow development and testing, training needs, and changes to existing or implementation of new information technology systems for HIM - Medical Transcription.  Provides technical support for Dolbey Fusion Text and Voice, speech recognition systems, and Radiology Ltd’s PowerScribe application.  Evaluates systems’ interoperability with Epic.  Provides administrative support for the Radiology department in filing diagnostic radiology reports.  Assists all healthcare documentation specialist, radiologic, and provider users.  Trains users in new workflows and current competencies.  Provides support for business and personal productivity applications in assigned area ensuring problems are correctly identified and coordinates resolution with appropriate members of the Information Services department.  Performs system administration and operational support activities by maintaining user accounts in applications and producing reports within provided guidelines.  Leads staff as required.  Assumes a share of department on call as needed.  Requires Associates Degree or equivalent and three (3) years experience in medical transcription workflows.  EPIC analysis experience preferred.

 

Revenue Cycle:

Works cohesively with IT to determine workflow changes, enterprise-wide application build requirements, troubleshooting, and resolution of problems relating to the application. This role is responsible for the design, configuration, testing, and validation of the assigned application/module during implementation, upgrade, and maintenance of Epic. This includes understanding that operational workflows and integrated decisions differ between clients and projects that may result in configuration variances. Performs in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with Epic software.  Works with department representatives to analyze needs and translate these into system design; provide application expertise to facilitate discussions and decisions.  Configures, modifies Epic master files, preference lists, reports, etc. related to the assigned application, as well as integrated.  Generates and update detailed documentation on system configurations and technical components, as well as decisions, requirements, specifications, change control, policy and procedures, end user documentation, issues and risks.   Requires a minimum two (2) years of Epic build experience in the assigned application to support in-depth knowledge of the software functionality and operational use.  At least one (1) or more Epic certifications for the assigned application required with twelve (12) moths of hire.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school required. 

EXPERIENCE:  Three (3) years of application analysis experience in area of expertise required. Additional experience may substitute for education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: None required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·         Knowledge business system requirements and documentation practices to ensure proper evaluations of solutions for system needs.

·         Skill in evaluating business systems, documenting solutions and trouble shooting problems.

·         Skill in training and guiding others.

·         Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

·         Ability to prepare detailed written reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

·         Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, patients and/or their representatives.

·         Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs, and apply basic algebraic concepts.

·         Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

·         Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
