Advanced Practice Provider Clinical Leader
The professional practice clinical leader works collaboratively with physicians, nursing and clinical leadership to establish and maintain an optimized APP strategy and workforce plan. The leader drives optimal performance throughout all areas of APP practice and employment in the organization; provides oversight and education about scope of practice, regulatory requirements, collaborative agreements, credentialing, privileging and onboarding of APPs; develops strategies for APP recognition, retention and engagement; and works collaboratively across the organization to build systems and structures to support high-performing provider teams and optimize the APP workforce.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Collaborates with clinical and organization leadership to design and implement an APP strategy and workforce plan that supports the overall organizational strategy.
Collaborates with executive leadership to recommend, develop and implement new opportunities to optimize clinical care and enable more effective utilization of APPs.
Contributes to the development, management and ongoing prioritization of APP resources in alignment with organization goals.
Serves as liaison to executive leadership for all APPs. Provides oversight for APP leaders and practicing APPs throughout the organization.
Develops, reviews and implements policies, procedures and related practices and services provided by APPs in all clinical settings (e.g., outpatient, inpatient, surgical) in collaboration with clinical leadership.
Ensures policies, procedures and practices related to APP are consistently communicated, administered and obeyed.
Provides education on and interpretation of APP scopes of practice, statutory limitations and current standards affecting practice.
Consults with clinical and organizational leaders on implementing leading practices for the optimal utilization of APPs.
Provides leadership and expertise to ensure APP compliance with external regulatory bodies and internal policies, procedures and quality improvement efforts.
Clinical Practice and Performance Analysis
Partners with the Medical Staff Office to ensure APPs are appropriately credentialed and privileged, per regulatory requirements.
Maintains current knowledge of APP practice regulations.
Assists executive leadership in developing data management tools to facilitate APP data reporting and outcomes management.
Obtains and utilizes data from a variety of sources, including internal and external benchmarking, research findings, outcomes, provider engagement and provider retention, to enhance programs that support patient care, access, lower cost and improve patient outcomes.
Advises clinical leaders on leading practices in recruitment, selection, onboarding, orienting, recognition, retention, and termination of APP workforce.
Participates in APP candidate interviews and selection, as appropriate.
Develops and implements orientation programs, quality improvement initiatives, competency assessment practices and performance review systems relevant to APPs.
Mentors APPs in clinical practice, leadership and practice management issues, as appropriate.
Develops and leads regular meetings of both APP leaders and APP clinical staff.
Represents the APP workforce on organization committees, as needed.
Advises finance leaders on the impact of APPs within the annual budget, including monitoring and evaluating outcomes and recommends modifications, as needed.
Partners with key departments (e.g., legal, compliance) to provide education and resources regarding appropriate APP billing and documentation practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and optimal revenue performance.
Develops, implements and monitors educational and professional development activities for the APP workforce.
Supports academic affiliations to provide clinically rich experiences for APP students and enable meaningful contribution from APP clinical staff.
Maintains personal clinical and leadership competency by participating in continuing education, professional organizations and other related activities.
Adheres to TMC organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values policies and standards.
Performs related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Master’s degree or higher in nursing. Advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of related experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Current RN or APRN state licensure. Appropriate RN or APRN certification.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may potentially be exposed to infectious organisms during routine and emergency situations.
