The Respiratory Therapist Per Diem assesses, evaluates, and treats patients with various disorders of the cardiopulmonary system. Administers oxygen and other non-anesthetic gases to patients by various methods, including intermittent positive pressure; administers aerosol medications; may conduct pulmonary function tests, may do aerial punctures and conduct blood gas determinations. Instructs patient in proper use of equipment and maintenance, maintains mechanical ventilators in non-critical care areas, keeps records of treatments and patient charges.
EDUCATION: Associate's degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE: None required.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) eligible, Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRCP) eligible, and current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
