This 34 bed surgical unit consists of Urologic, Bariatric, Colo-Rectal-Enhanced Recovery, and Vascular patients as well as general surgical overflow. The unit provides both pre-operative and post-operative care. Patient education is focused on pain management, post hospital care and patient focus to return to their optimal level of functioning. We have a Bariatric surgical intervention program as well as an enhanced recovery after surgery program with Colo-Rectal Physicians (all staff must be specially trained prior to caring for these patients). Nurse ratio is 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights.
The Patient Care Technician is responsible for direct patient care services on a specific unit under the supervision of an RN or Case Manager. Provides personal care and assists with the implementation of selected portions of a care plan including respiratory services, rehabilitation services, and phlebotomy under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting; or no experience if completed one semester of clinicals in an accredited A.D.N. nursing program or completed two semesters of clinicals in an accredited BSN nursing program.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Must hold and maintain a current Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
